A Festival of Jewish Learning

Limmud Seattle 2025

Bridging Divides, Shaping Tomorrow

Our 8th Annual Learning Festival will be in February with three ways to participate:

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, an eFestival will allow virtual participants to select sessions and participate on-line.

On Saturday evening, February 15, 2025, there will be Limmud Ba'Salon. This will take place in homes throughout the Greater Seattle area.  It is a chance for people to gather in small, informal groups to learn, sing, dance, and create deeper connections through guided text study.

On Sunday, February 16, 2025 there will be an in-person event to connect you with community and Jewish learning.

For the Community, By the Community.

Introducing: Bridging Divides, Shaping Tomorrow

Our Jewish community is facing deep divides—within families, across generations, and among friends. Differing values and perspectives, especially on complex issues like national and international politics, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Zionism, Anti-Zionism, and antisemitism, make hard conversations even harder.

At Limmud Seattle 2025, we’re choosing to bridge these divides, not deepen them. This new learning track is about building the skills we need to face tough topics with honesty, care, and respect.

In the past, Limmud—like many Jewish spaces—struggled to include diverse viewpoints. Voices were excluded, and important conversations avoided. We acknowledge that, and we are growing. This year, we’re creating a learning atmosphere for all Jewish voices rooted in non-violence and mutual respect. This isn’t about persuading others to join your side or debating policies or borders; it’s about practicing new ways of being with, listening to, and learning from each other. This is how we bridge divides and shape a shared future.

What This Track Offers:

  • Nuanced Conversations: Workshops for thoughtful, intergenerational dialogue on tough topics, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

  • Skill-Building Tools: Practical ways to engage in complex conversations with respect and empathy.

  • Inclusive Space: Every Jewish voice is welcome, as long as our values of non-violence and openness are upheld.

Who is Welcome:

  • Those ready for curious listening, respectful dialogue and honest discernment.

  • Anyone wanting to bridge generational or ideological divides.

  • Individuals seeking connection and skills to navigate difficult conversations.

What We Do Not Tolerate:

  • Hate speech, racism, or antisemitism, including any language or behavior that targets or dehumanizes individuals or groups based on their identity, beliefs, or background.

  • Promoting or justifying violence in any form, whether physical, verbal, or symbolic.

  • Personal attacks or inflammatory rhetoric that undermine respectful dialogue and mutual understanding.

Together, we’re learning and growing. Let’s create a more connected, empathetic Jewish community that faces hard realities head-on—while honoring the dignity of all.

Limmud Seattle 2025 offers a variety of sessions on:

  • Jewish Tradition & Identity: Explore ancient texts and contemporary practices.

  • Jewish Culture: Enjoy music, art, and food from our rich heritage.

  • Community Connection: Engage with diverse voices and build lasting bonds.
